Mano Wijeratne’s ashes interred

-

The Interment of Mano Wijeratne’s ashes took place on Sunday, January 29 at the family burial grounds in Wellawatte.

The monument erected in memory of Mano Wijeratne by his widow Bharathi is one of sheer beauty. A white dome stands tall supported by pristine, white, stately pillars reminiscent of the Taj Mahal. It is a testament of a deep and abiding love for her husband, who was her soul mate and her best friend.

On the day of the interment of the ashes, plaits of white jasmine hung between each pillar from the dome to the floor and an elaborate arrangement of orchids with white and red roses stood above the place where Mano’s ashes and those of Bharathi’s father Hema Wijeratne are interred.

White pots with Mano’s favourite flowers in full bloom were beautifully arranged on the manicured lawn of the cemetery.
