SAPPTA conducts one-day workshop in Ampegama
The Spices & Allied Products Producers’ & Traders’ Association (SAPPTA) affiliated to the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce conducted a one-day workshop for the small holders and the planters of the Regional Plantation Companies (RPCS) of cinnamon in Ampegama, Galle recently.
This was the third workshop organized by SAPPTA in collaboration with the Department of Export Agriculture, the Export Development Board and the Industrial Technology Institute (ITI).
The main focus of this workshop was to educate the small holders and the planters of the RPCS on nursery management and new planting techniques, GAP and maintenance, fertilization methods and types of fertilizer, value addition and business entrepreneurship.
The Chairman of the Association Viren Ruberu, stated that SAPPTA intends organizing similar workshops in Matara and other regions as this would assist the Spice Industry to strategically drive towards achieving greater quality of produce whilst enhancing the countries spice production and offering new entrepreneurs the opportunity to secure new avenues. The Spices & Allied Products Producers’ & Traders’ Association he said is dedicated to aggressively work towards achieving this objective.
