The Leos Cricket Club of Negombo, one of the oldest cricket clubs in the city and one of the controlling members of Sri Lanka Cricket, has now been taken over by Ajith Weerasinghe, as its new President and much can be expected from this change. Ajith who was the President of that prestigious organization in Negombo, the Maris Stella College Old Boys Association has proved to be an excellent leader and an organizer. It was during his Presidency that the MSC OBA came alive with extremely successful and fruitful programmes which finally culminated in the construction of a three storied ‘OBA Centre’ for the Old Boys Association in close proximity to the College. To Ajith no task is difficult or impossible. His commitment and leadership skills are bound to produce results. He presently serves as a Director of CIC Vetcare (Pvt) Ltd. a sub- sidiary of CIC Holdings PLC and as the Group General Manager of CIC Feeds Goup.

Leos Cricket Club with 41 years of existence, are the under 23 Division 2 champions in year 2010 and now has been promoted to under 23 Premier category. This achievement was possible as a result of devoted work of the past office bearers and the players.leos Cricket Club, like most other cricket clubs in the country, is in need of finances for its maintenance and development as its income sources from parent institution have dried up. The immediate task of the new management will be to whip up sources of income to overcome the present financial crisis. Towards this end a “Sing Along” has already been organized for February 11.

Ajith Weerasinghe and his team will place the Leos Cricket Club of Negombo on the map in the near future is a foregone conclusion and cricket enthusiasts of Negombo may look forward to a bright light at the end of the tunnel.
