Career best knocks by Chinthaka Jayasinghe and Chamara Silva has put Bloomfield in the box seat against NCC when play ended on the second day in their Premier Tier ‘A’ cricket encounter played at Reid Avenue.

Chinthaka slammed an unbeaten 173 with 16 boundaries and six sixes while Chamara cracked a 158 inclusive of 15 boundaries and five sixes. The pair put on a record 302 runs for the fifth wicket enabling Bloomfield, resuming from their overnight score of 413 for 4, make a formidable score of 500 for 6 declared.

Later Bloomfield left arm spinner Upul Indrasiri wrecked the NCC batting as he with a match figure of 5 for 62 restricted them to a score of 213. NCC made to follow on ended the day on 11 for 1 still needing 276 runs to avoid an innings defeat when play resume on the final day today.
