The ninth death anniversar­y of yesteryear popular actor Piyadasa Wijekoon who had acted in more than 100 Sinhala movies, also fell on February 9.

Piyadasa Wijekoon who was often offered the role of the villain in most films he acted in, also acted in a few overseas film production­s and three Tamil movies.

He also acted in stage plays like Sivamma Dhanapala, Apooru Yahaluwo, Manape and others.

From his child- hood days, Piyadasa who studied at Vidyawarda­na Vidyalaya in Narahenpit­a always wanted to become an actor and his dream came true when he was chosen to take part in a group dance scene in Sirisena Wimalaweer­a’s ‘Sirakaruwa’.

Later he gradually made his presence felt in movies like Purusha Rathnaya, Suhada Divi Piduma, Wahal Dupatha, Colamba Hadayo, Awa Soya Adare, Siripala Saha Ranmenika, Onna Babo Billo Enawa and a large number of other movies.
