Half tons from Weeraratne and De Saram

Half tons by Kaushalya Weeraratne and Indika de Saram for Ragama CC and a half ton by Dhananjaya de Silva for Badureliya CC stood out in the Premier Tier ‘A’ encounter which began at the Surrey Village ground in Maggona yesterday.

Ragama CC taking first lease of the wicket made a formidable 320 and Badureliya CC in their turn were badly placed on 119 for 5. The match will be continued today.

BRC record third outright win

BRC recorded their third outright win of the Premier Tier ‘B’ cricket tournament when they defeated Kurunegala YCC by three wickets in the match concluded at the BRC grounds yesterday.

Kurunegala YCC resuming on their overnight score of 135 for 4 went on to make a score of 244 which left BRC a target of 220 runs which they achieved for the loss of seven wickets.

CCC coasted to an innings and 17 run win over Police in the match concluded at the CCC grounds yesterday and in the process recorded their second outright win of the tournament.

CCC resuming on their overnight score of 361 for 7 made a score of 403 for 9 before declaring. Police batting a second time with a deficit of 205 runs was unable to avoid an innings defeat folding up for 188

runs.

SLPA in stunning win

Sri Lanka Ports Authority recorded a stunning seven wicket win over fancied Navy in the match concluded at Welisara yesterday. Sri Lanka Ports Authority had put themselves in a strong position when play ended on day two and had Navy batting a second time struggling at 51 for 4.

Navy resuming on their overnight score was unable to make any impression being bowled out for 183. Sri Lanka Ports Authority set a target of 81 runs for victory needed just 15 overs to record their first outright win.
