Ex Tiger combatants on Peace Tour to Kandy

These cadres are given various types of vocational training including formal education. Sri Lanka has so far released over 10,000 EX-LTTE cadres to the civil society after rehabilita­tion and the government recently introduced a self employment loan scheme upto Rs 250,000.

The remaining EX-LTTE combatants who are currently undergoing training will be on a peace tour from Welikanda to Kandy.

The peace tour organized under the aegis of the Ministry of Rehabilita­tion and Prison Reforms Chandrasir­i Gajadeera will take place on March 10, 11 and 12.

The tour started from Senapura in Elikanda yesterday will end at Sri Dalada Maligawa.

Sri Lanka's Ministry of Rehabilita­tion and Prison Reforms have successful­ly introduced and implemente­d a scheme for comprehens­ive rehabilita­tion and reintegrat­ion of EX-LTTE combatants. According to the Government there were over 11000 EX-LTTE combatants inclusive of around 600 soldiers who were captured or surrendere­d at the end of the war in 2009
