Sanitha and Anushka fashion Sebastian triumph

Sanitha de Mel and Anushka Perera cracked 78 apiece to guide St. Sebastian’s to a comfortabl­e 64 run win over traditiona­l rivals Prince of Wales in their 27th Battle of the Gold’s limited over encounter played at De Zoysa Stadium in Moratuwa.

Sanitha’s was a quick fire knock which came in just 51 balls comprising seven boundaries and five towering sixes and was associated in a 90 run stand for the sixth wicket with Anuk Fernando.

Anushka guided the side during the early stages of the innings in compiling his knock in 93 balls inclusive of eight boundaries.

Prince of Wales in their turn were well behind the required rate though making steady progress. Only opener

Kusal Mendis was able to make some impression with sedate 93 but his dismissal saw the Cambrians faltering.

The win saw St. Sebastian’s leading the tally of wins with 13 as against 12 to Prince of Wales with two matches ending in no deci

sions.
