internal affairs of the country and violate the country's sovereignty despite the passage of the resolution against Sri Lanka in the UNHRC.

However, there are groups planning to sabotage the ongoing development effort

Addressing a large gathering at the inaugural ceremony of the “One Project for One Village” programme last morning at Wevita, Bandaragama, the president added that he would not allow terrorism or any forces supporting it to raise their ugly heads again under any circumstances.

The people who left the country during the war are now returning. However, there are groups planning to sabotage the ongoing development effort, he said.

“Certain leaders, who had never before visited the north went there when the American resolution on Sri Lanka was before the UN Human Rights Council and resorted to false propaganda against the ongoing development plans in the region. To whom did they want to give their message? Was it to the people of the north or the people of the south or the Tamil Diaspora or the countries that voted for us in Geneva?” he asked.

He said some people were pointing their fingers at us without putting their own houses in order. “The people who burned the Holy Koran are talking about human rights today,” he said.

The “Harithagaraya” plant nursery of the Wevita Maithree Madya Maha Vidyalaya was declared open by the president.

Economic Development Minister Basil Rajapaksa, Education Minister Bandula Gunawardane, Senior Minister Ratnasiri Wickramanayake, Western Province Chief Minister Prasanna Ranatunga and Janaka Priyath Bandara MP were present on the occasion.
