Mervyn threatens to break limbs of journalist­s

Public Relations Minister Mervyn Silva yesterday warned he would break the limbs of journalist­s, who went abroad and made various statements against the country.

“I am the one who chased journalist Poddala Jayantha from this country. I will break the limbs of all these journalist­s in public if they returned to the country” the minister warned.

Speaking at a Kiribathgo­da rally against the UNHRC resolution Mr. Silva said it was only the President who could remove him from office.

“Even if a tsunami flows from Sigiriya, I’m sure that no tsunami from President Mahinda Rajapaksa will harm me,” he said. “Only Mahinda Rajapaksa can sack me, no other big shot can lay his or her hands on me and I have no intention of leaving Kelaniya. I know D.A. Raja-
