SLIIT stands tall as one of the leading educators in the country, providing vital educational pathways in the key spheres of information technology, business management and electronic engineering. The institute provides scholarship schemes tailored to boost students’ academic progress while enabling them to reach their full potential and development, and recently opened up avenues for South Asian students to make the most of SLIIT’S valuable academic offerings.

The institute provides numerous scholarships each year to top students. Last year the institute awarded 68 full scholarships and 104 half scholarships amounting to Rs.9 million, paving the way for valuable opportunities where students can sharpen their skills in their chosen fields of study. The total value of scholarships provided to date amounts to Rs.59 million.

Thirty eight applicants from the SAARC region now have the opportunity to further their academic aspirations through SLIIT’S half-scholarships. Full scholarships have already being granted to one applicant from each SAARC country, with selection criteria based on students who display exceptional academic skills and performance. Already exceptional students who were offered full scholarships from Pakistan, Maldives and Nepal are studying at SLIIT.

The scholarships are grouped as follows: SLIIT Performancebased Scholarships - awarded every semester, SLIIT Scholarships for Overseas Students (students from South Asia), and scholarships offered by donor agencies such as Virtusa, IFS and Exetel.

Scholarships are based entirely on merit. Students who have registered for degree programmes with SLIIT’S partner universities are eligible to be considered for SLIIT scholarships up to the SLIIT diploma level. Scholarship recipients will be selected anew every semester. Under this scholarship scheme, the full semester course fee or one half of the semester course fee as applicable would be available to the recipients to be set off against the course fee of the following semester.

“SLIIT caters to leading IT and software development firms by providing them with opportunities to offer scholarships to selected students to complete the B.SC. Honours degree at SLIIT. We take pride in our affiliations with foreign universities and within the relevant industries in the country,” states Professor S. Karunaratne.
