Father doubts about son's death
Giving evidence on the death of a Lance-corporal attached to the Sri Lanka Air Force headquarters on March 15, the father of the deceased told Court that he has doubts about his son's death.
In this case, the Slave Island police filing a B report had informed Court that several Air Force officers had given statements to the effect that the victim had shot himself in the head with a T-56 firearm.
When the inquest into the death of Lance Corporal T.M. Nimalsiri of Panadura came up before Magistrate Kanishka Wijeratne, the witness Mohamdiramge Nandasiri told Court that his son had no reason to commit suicide.
Meanwhile, the Magistrate directed the police that a statement be recorded from the girl friend of the deceased since it would be helpful in the on going investigations into the incident.
Further magisterial inquiry was postponed for April 23.
