Layman’s house converted into temple

A residentia­l house of a layman at Homagama was converted into a temple and offered to the Mahasangha on Wednesday (4).

The owner of the house R. A. Wimalasena and his wife Gnanawathi­e Perera are resident in the USA. Their twostoried house at Katuwana Road, Homagama was named the ‘Wimalagnan­a Viharaya’ and handed over to the Sanghanaya­ke of Japan, Chief Incumbent of the Mahabodhi Agrasharaw­aka Viharaya, and President of the Mahabodhi Society, Ven Banagala Upatissa Thera.

Ven. Moneragala Pannakitti Thera was appointed as the Chief Incumbent of the Viharaya. Defence Secretary Gotabaya Rajapaksa and Education Minister Bandula Gunawarden­e, the distinguis­hed invitees at the ceremony, laid the foundation stone for the proposed Cheithiya of the temple and were appointed its trustees. Maliban Manufactor­ies Director A.J. Wimalasiri donated Rs.250,000 towards the maintainan­ce of the temple.
