School van driver further remanded till April 19

The school van driver, who was in remand custody for allegedly having sexually abused a tenyear-old school girl in Kollupitiya on the way to school, was yesterday further remanded till April 19 by the Colombo Fort Magistrate.

When the case came up before Colombo Fort Magistrate Kanishka Wijeratne, the Kollupitiya police informed court that they were yet to receive the medical reports pertaining to the victim and moved for the suspect to be further remanded. Having considered the facts the Magistrate ordered that the suspect van driver be further remanded till April 19 and further ordered that the vehicle in which the offence was alleged to have taken place be released on a Rs.2 million bond.
