No shortage in stocks of essential items: Co-op Ministry

The Ministry of Co-operatives & Internal Trade said that stocks of essential items were readily available for sale during this year’s festive season and therefore the prices of such goods should stabilize soon.

The Minister of Co-operatives & Internal Trade, Johnston Fernando had directed the Chairman of the CAA Rumy Marzook to conduct raids on those establishments which try to hide stocks and create artificial shortages. Attention was to be mainly focused on large -scale establishments warning them against releasing low quality consumer goods to the market during the festive season.
