Court re-remands suspects in A’pura museum theft

Anuradhapu­ra Additional Magistrate Chandima Edirimanna rejected a bail applicatio­n by two suspects who are in custody for stealing a large number of ancient coins from the Anuradhapu­ra museum and reremanded them till April 16.

The magistrate also ordered the Criminal Investigat­ion Department to further investigat­e this matter and to forward a progress report to the courts on the next date. The two suspects in remand over the robbery are N.m.dissanayak­e and Halaldeen Mohamed Kamil.the CID submitting a report to court said that they were unable to locate the stolen coins.

The CID informed the court that further investigat­ions were being conducted.
