The Production Keeper of the Galle Chief Magistrate’s Court was taken into custody on suspicion of attempting to change a stock of jewellery in his charge as case productions.

The Galle Police had initiated inquiries into a complaint made by the Supervising Officer of the Production Room. It is alleged that the suspect had handed over a stock of case productions to the Court Registrar to be taken home. The Supervising Officer immediately informed the magistrate of this and thereafter made a complaint to the police.

During the inquiries police recovered a stock of fake jewellery in sealed plastic bottles similar to the case productions found in the safe from the Registrars handbag.
