A JUST SOCIETY NEED OF THE HOUR: SAJITH

The rule of law in the country has collapsed due to the shortsight­ed policies of the government that created a corrupt society where murder, robbery and rape were the order of the day, Deputy Leader of the UNP, Hambantota District Parliament­arian Sajith Premadasa said.

Addressing a ceremony at the Parish hall of the Payagala St. Joseph Church to donate funds to the Dharmagupt­ha Pirivena and the St. Joseph Church under the Sasunata Aruna programme, he said the government that promised to build a righteous society miserably failed to bring the on going wave of crimes under control.

from local and foreign philanthro­pists to help the places of worship. The people will see a dawn of a new era through the Sadunata Aruna programme that helps all religions alike. Payagala St.joseph Church is the 249th Christian church that received funds under the programme. An opposition political party in Parliament had never launched a social service programme of this nature in the political history of the country. It is sad that political murders, extortion, robberies, rape and drug traffickin­g are going on unchecked in the so called ‘Miracle of Asia.’
