CID to record statement from suspect

The Balapitiya Magistrate Asanka Boderagama yesterday allowed the CID to record a statement from the Army Captain Chandana Wickramasinghe, the second suspect presently in remand for the murder of Dr Priyanka Prasad Jayasinghe of Karandeniya District Hospital.

The Magistrate also ordered the five suspects to be re-remanded until April 30.

The five suspects re-remanded were Chinthaka Ruwan Jayasinghe the owner of medical laboratory in Borakanda Karandeniya, a former Army Captain Chandana Wickramasinghe, D Vijith Ananda De Soysa, Army Corporals S. H. Jaylath De Silva and S. H. Shantha De Silva.

The suspects were not represented in courts and the next day of hearing was fixed for April 30.
