Phoenix Ogilvy wins ‘Best of Asia’ Gold at Goafest

Adding to its string of internatio­nal and regional awards, Phoenix Ogilvy bagged Gold and Silver at the 2012 edition of Indian advertisin­g industry’s Annual Conclave Goafest last Saturday. Phoenix is the only Sri Lankan advertisin­g agency to win Gold at Goafest, 2012. India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Nepal competed for the Best of Asia Awards at the Goafest. This year more than 4215 entries were received.

Phoenix Ogilvy won Gold for the ‘Best Outdoor Poster’ which was also adjudged the Best of South East Asia entry. Phoenix Ogilvy was awarded Silver for the same entry in the ‘Out of Home Household Products and Services’ category. This outdoor poster was developed for Titus Knives marketed by Titus Stores.

This year the theme at Goafest was ‘Magic of Ideas’. Speaking about this year’s theme Arvind Sharma, Chairman Goafest committee said, “What we bring to the table, usually referred as right brain work, is generally magical. So I think the industry can derive a lot of pride, and may be long-term values from this recognitio­n.”

In 2010, Phoenix Ogilvy put Sri Lanka on the map by being the first ever Sri Lankan advertisin­g agency, to win Gold at an internatio­nal advertisin­g event, Adfest. The same year Phoenix Ogilvy also won Silver and Bronze at Goafest. Phoenix is also a Cannes finalist.

Commenting on its latest success at Goafest Chief Operating Officer of Phoenix Ogilvy Sudesh Sundaramoo­rthy said, “This is indeed a great achievemen­t that has placed Phoenix Ogilvy and more importantl­y Sri Lanka on the creative map of the advertisin­g world. It augers well that the adverting industry in Sri Lanka that Phoenix Ogilvy is making its presence felt at internatio­nal and regional advertisin­g events in the last six years or so.”

The jury chairperso­ns for various categories at Goafest included region’s most outstandin­g advertisin­g stalwarts such as Ravi Deshapande, Sonar Debral, Alok Nandan, KV Sridew, Abhisith Avasti, Senthil Kumar and K.S Chakrawart­hi.
