Sajith calls for reduction of fuel prices

-

UNP Deputy Leader Sajith Premadasa yesterday requested the government to bring down fuel prices with immediate effect as the price of fuel had gone down in the global market.

Mr. Premadasa said in a statement yesterday that the current price of a barrel of crude oil was US $ 94. Accordingly he said the price of a barrel had gone down by US $ 4.

Besides he said the government earlier purchased a barrel at US $ 98 from Iran though it was claimed that a barrel was bought at US $ 127.

Mr. Premadasa charged that the government raised the fuel prices recently by hoodwinking the people. He said the price hike of kerosene was most unfair. He said the global prices had no impact on kerosene as it was produced locally.
