Weheragala wildlife officers in jumbo rescue
A wild elephant that fell into the Z-D Mahaweli canal was rescued by the Weheragala wildlife conservation officers with much effort. The officials took about four hours to save the animal from drowning. Af- ter the elephant fell into the canal it drifted away to the Wirana area about eight kilometres away.
