Rajeshwari - a mother of three said her son, Rajeevan had gone missing from their home town in Vavuniya when he was 23 years on February 25, 2008. She said he had left for work that morning but never returned home and had been missing ever since.

Karunawali Mariam a resident of Vavuniya said her son Karunawara­n Rajkumar had visited a clinic at the Kandy hospital for treatment on June 17, 2006 for a Kidney ailment but had never returned home since then.

“My son would be 26 years now but I don’t know if he’s alive or dead,” Karunawali said.

Thisani Riveananda­n and her mother said her sister went missing when she was 16 on March 27, 2009 in Mullaitivu.

She said her sister was playing with her friends when she had got injured. Her friends had fled the scene and her sister was never seen thereafter.

She said there were military personnel at the time but they had not seen her ever since.
