QUEEN ELIZABETH’S DIAMOND JUBILEE
QUEEN ELIZABETH IS INDEED A WONDERFUL QUEEN AND PERSON, WHO HAS GLIDED THROUGH DIFFICULT TIMES WITH FINESSE AND INBORN GRACE
Queen Elizabeth’s diamond jubilee was celebrated in great style with lovely music, many prizes and gifts by theabr withthe British High Commissioner, Mr.rankine as The chief guest.the organizers, val Jayakody andavril Nathanielz should be congratulated on its success. There was never a dull moment and Rex Hatherley, the compere was excellent. Queen Elizabeth is indeed a wonderful Queen and person, who has glided through difficult times with finesse and inborn grace. My most treasured memories included meeting her, the Queen Mother and Princess Margaret at Buckingham Palace and hosting Prince Philip at Wilpattu with my husband, representing The Jayewardene Government. Mr. Rankine is one of the best British High Commissioners we have had; never forgets a face, is charming and friendly and is a most welcome contrast to his immediate predecessor. An enormous cake was the focus of attention topped with a crown and a screen showed slides of the Queen right through her life.all tables were named after Royal Residences.a patriotic young lady had created a dress made entirely of Union Jacks and well deserved the prize she was given.the event was in aid ofthe Castle Street Hospital forwomen.
