Office Network conducts Sewing Café workshop

Office Network Pvt. Ltd., the authorized distributo­r for Brother office equipment and home sewing machines in Sri Lanka conducted the Sewing Café’ workshop recently at Park Street Mews, Warehouse 2, Colombo. This iconic brand of sewing machines has been in existence since the 1980s and is a household name amongst sewing lovers and experts. The workshop focused on sewing art techniques and related ways for new entreprene­urs to start an embroidery business.

Sewing Café was the first of a series of workshops lined up since the introducti­on of new models to its existing product range at the product launch held in November 2011. The much awaited event was a launching pad for sewing hobbyists, entreprene­urs and housewives to avail themselves of the opportunit­y to update their skills, especially in the use of more sophistica­ted techniques in sewing, embroidery, appliqué, patchwork, quilting etc. Sewing experts were specially flown in from Brother Singapore to enhance the quality of the demonstrat­ions.

Brother has changed the concept of sewing by introducin­g user-friendly and easy-to-carry machines that are capable of turning out intricate designs to cater to the industry. Brother sewing machines which encompass a century of experience and knowledge in the field has finetuned sewing into a fine art which has turned the brand into a market leader worldwide.

Sewing cum handcraft expert and Brand Ambassador for Brother Sewing Machines Daisy Vittachchi stated, “It is now the ideal time to enter the field of sewing craft, since most children from a young age show interest in sewing, which in all probabilit­y would turn out to be a hobby amongst the younger generation.” Moreover, she says, “Interest in fashion sewing has now evolved into a creative form of personal expression and has become a hot topic today.”

The present Brother models available are LS-2125, GS-2700, DS-140, NV-30, NV-950, NV-750E and PR-650 which could be purchased through major credit cards or financing under a 0% interest scheme. A special discount of 10% was offered for purchases made during the workshop.
