Achala takes you to Candy Town

-

Achala Rashmini Perera recently launched her children’s book Candy Town that takes you to a fantasy world with great imagination.

The young author who sees through children’s points of view conveys a message of hope, peace and love for the young readers.

“The Candy Town is an inspiring imagination of a little boy. This is what children desire, to be in their own world. The peaceful nature, so much of love and caring from my family is what I experienced when I was a little kid. I played with my sister and friends in our garden, pretending so many imaginary things and I was so much touched the beauty of nature. We were so much entertained by picking wild flowers and observing little creatures like butterflies, caterpillars and ants. I wrote this story recollecting these memories and transforming them into a well-woven tale,” Achala said.

In her first collection of poetry titled “Village by the River”, the young poet, Achala Rashmini Perera used a variety of themes and rhythms to express ideas in a simple yet effective manner.

According to her, she was first inspired by the rain, to sit and write a poem. Here she captures the mood of the rain with color (heavy blue) and sounds (rain drop by drop and the plop on the roof) along with her own thoughts.

Her subject matter varies from Festivals to Nightmares. From a Trip to the Sea to the Moon. She has a keen eye to observe her surroundings and then she comments about life with her own experiences.
