DULANJANA GUIDES NAVY TO SHOCKING WIN

A fine spell of bowlling to capture 7 for 75 by spinner Dulanjana Mendis helped Navy record a shocking 31 runs win over fancied Moors in their Under 23 inter-club cricket encounter concluded at Welisara yesterday.

Moors chasing a simple target of 137 runs for victory resuming on their overnight score of 87 for 6 found Mendis too hot to handle as succumbed to a score of just 105 runs.

Navy’s came back into the game after being shot out for just 65 in the first innings and then giving Moors a first inning lead of 147 runs. Navy’s batsmen clicked in the second innings thanks to half tons from Duleeka Tissakutti­ge, Yoshan Kumara and Chanaka Ruwansiri before Dulanjana guided them to victory.
