REKHA FROM ACTING TO MEMBER OF THE RAJYA SABHA

BORN ON OCTOBER 10, 1954, HER ORIGINAL NAME IS BHANUREKHA GANESAN. HER FATHER GEMINI GANESAN WAS A ONE TIME HEART THROB OF MANY IN CHENNAI.

Rekha like cricket icon Sachin Tendulkar is now a member of the Rajya Sabha. She took her oaths on May 15, 2012.

Though she was born in Chennai, Rekha like Vyjanthimala made it big in Bollywood and though she is out of films she is still a popular figure in Bollywood.

Born on October 10, 1954, her original name is Bhanurekha Ganesan. Her father Gemini Ganesan was a one time heart throb of many in Chennai.

Her film career started at the age of 12 when she acted in the Telugu movie Rangula Ratnam, her Bollywood debut was in 1970 in Sawan Bhadon and her big time hit came in her first film with Amitabh Bachchan when she was signed for Do Anjaane in 1976.

She did a number of films some of which very successful after that she was offered a lot of challenging roles of different genre and she took up the challenge and proved her worth. Thereafter it was a case of climbing the ladder of success. She won the Filmfare Best Actress award on a couple of occasions, the National Filmfare Award for best actress, Star screen award best villain and many other awards. Some of her notable films are Khubsoorat, Ghar, silsila, umrao Jaan, Muqaddar ka Sikandar to name a few.

Rekha is one of the most brilliant as well as gorgeous actresses of Bollywood.

She has had several relationships so much so that she became the hottest topic of gossip at one time. Magazines and newspapers were full of rumours of Rekha’s relationship with Jeetendra, Vinod Mehra,kiran Kumar and Amitabh Bachchan which went for a long time.
