Roo Rata A colourful treat

‘ROO RATA’ art exhibition organized by the Art Circle of Asian Grammar School (former Giggles) of Gothatuwa New Town, was opened for the public on June 23 and 24 at the Art Gallery, Colombo amidst a large gathering of students, parents, teachers and special guests including Chief Guest screen queen Malani Fonseka.

This was a holiday project organized by the school’s Art teacher Induka Ruwanpathirana under the guidance of Principal Ms. Thushari Koralage to demonstrate the students’ artistic impressions through visual art. Visual art can be used to enrich and promote special, intellectual and emotional development of children to a great degree. Twenty one students who were interested in drawing joined this project during the April vacation. All the drawings were done and completed in the school premises.

Deputy Mayor of Kotte Urban Council Madura Vithanage, veteran artists Ms. Cybil Wettasinghe, Daya Rajapakse, popular artistes Dayan Vitharana, Palitha Silva, and Saranga Dissasekara graced the occasion. All guests commented that it was a colourful exhibition with different kinds of drawings.
