Minister gets Interim report on bad diesel
The top management of the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) re
signed on Thursday and a new board of directors was appointed yesterday, the Petroleum Ministry said.
It said the three-member committee which was asked to look into the import and distribution of the substandard stock of 20,000 metric tonnes of diesel handed over an interim report to Petroleum Minister Susil Premajayantha.
A ministry source said the minister would instruct the new board of directors including its chairman Tilak Collure to study the interim report and carry out the recommendations and the corrective measures suggested by the committee.

sector vehicles broke down last week after the use of contaminated diesel
suriya and Nalin Patikirikorale.
The source said the final report of the committee headed by the petroleum ministry auditor and the report of the two foreign laboratories which carried out tests on the reportedly contaminated diesel are expected next week.
The acting CPC Chairman Dayananada Vidanagaachchi and the previous board of di- rectors Lakshman Gunawardana, Methsiri Abeygunawardana and Champika Amarasekara resigned yesterday.
The energy sector faced its latest crisis after several state sector vehicles broke down last week after the use of the contaminated diesel.
The Sri Lanka Railways and the Sri Lanka Ports Authority also complained that locomotive engines, power sets and cranes went out of commission for similar reasons.
