Let’s prepare

“Excuse me. Let me go through. I am late for my class,”said Deepthi.

“Well, I have to sit for my exam. I am doing the A/Level exam this year,”said Niluka.

“I hope you are not too stressed out. You must keep a cool head to read the questions carefully and use all your knowledge to answer. You must also keep track of the time. Answer essay type questions within fifteen to twenty minutes and give yourself time to go through your whole answer paper for careless mistakes before you submit it,”advised Anoma.

“At this stage, you must only study short notes on each topic. Remember that you have to condense two years of knowledge into a three hour paper. An exam means that you have to show off your knowledge to the examiner. So think of including big concepts into a small space. And you must also make sure that your handwriting is neat and clear,”she added.

“You are lucky to have got through all your exams. You can now put your feet up and relax,”said Niluka.

“You too should try to unwind as it is too close to the exam to cram. Just think of doing the best you can and leave the rest to the Gods above!”said Anoma.

“I know. I was also told that once I have finished answering a paper and submitted it, I should not waste time going through corrections as I will have unnecessary regrets. I must just go ahead and plan for the next subject paper,”said Niluka.

“I know. It’s easy and natural to spend time on post-mortems but leave that till you have completed the whole exam. At the moment, concentrate all your efforts on the next paper and the next,”advised Anoma.
