Examinatio­ns coordinati­on officer neglects duties

An Examinatio­ns Coordinati­ng Centre Chief in Ratnapura District had neglected examinatio­n duty last week by participat­ing in an election campaign meeting attended by a VVIP, Ceylon Teachers Service Union (CTSU) alleged.

According to CTSU General Secretary Mahinda Jayasinghe, the coordinati­ng centre chief had been absent from duty one whole day. “One would expect that he should take his responsibi­lities and duties gravely as he is also the Principal of a leading school in the district,” Mr. Jayasinghe said.

However, Examinatio­ns Commission­er W. M. J. Pushpakuma­ra said they have not received any complaints regarding such an incident and added the accusation­s are dubious.

Commission­er Pushpakuma­ra however said any official who has neglected examinatio­n duties will be interdicte­d from his/her position if the charges are proved through an investigat­ion.
