“A grandma is someone you never outgrow your need for” – Author Unknown

-

Grandmothers are always considered special and ours was no exception. They do so much for the family and loved ones and are a great source of inspiration.

Our ‘gran’ was a wonderful, loving and Godfearing lady; and a friend as well to share a joke or relate a story. She not only doted over all seven of her grandchildren, but also over her eight great grandchildren. She was a tower of strength to my grandfather the late Noel, and an example of a dutiful and caring mother to my father Holly and my aunt Winifred Ediriwira.

Our grandmother (affectionately known as ‘Gaga’ or ‘Gugs’) was also a kind and caring person. She passed away peace- fully in Moratuwa on 22nd July 2012, at the age of 96. Her life was a blessing not only to her parents and brothers and sisters but also to our own family She was generous in love , kindness and compassion and her unselfish ways touched many who came in contact with her.

My brother Richard and I, cousin Ajitha Ed- iriwira and wife Marina, cousin Tamara and husband Roshan Wickreme- nayake, cousin Suresh Ediriwira and wife Heather, cousin Samantha and husband Thushara Ediriwira and cousin Thoshan Ediriwira were always ver special to her. She never failed to keep reminding us that if we can change ourselves and the others we love for the better, then each of us would have lived a worthwhile, noble life.

"Well, ‘ Gugs’, I know you are looking on us today from up and above, and I am glad for this. For what you had taught us and done for us, we can never forget and we thank you; though we miss you, we are happy that you are now in the safe hands of Jesus.” Ryan Ohlmus Mt Waverley, Melbourne, 3149
