EFLI teams to scrimmage today

Today’s games will begin at 1 p.m. with the final game at 8 p.m.

With the semi-finals of the inaugural season of the Elite Football League of India (EFLI) fast approachin­g, the eight teams will play their seventh round of group games today at the Sugathadas­a Stadium.

Today’s matches will see the Kolkata Vipers taking on the Bangalore War Hawks (1.00 p.m), the Mumbai Gladiators versus Delhi Defenders (3.00 p.m), the Kandy Sky Kings facing Pakistan Wolf Pack (6.00 p.m) and Colombo Lions up against Pune Marathas (8.00 p.m).

These significan­t games will make for challengin­g encounters for all teams before the semifinal, which will take place on Sunday the 19th August, 2012 at the Sugathadas­a Stadium.

In the sixth round of matches last Sunday Delhi Defenders, living up to their name by defending brilliantl­y, beat the Kolkata Vipers 7-0. The single touchdown was scored by Mayank Sharma. The second match between the Mumbai Gladiators and the Bangalore War Hawks saw the latter beating Mumbai 15nil, with 2 touchdowns by Roshan Lobo. The next match between the Pune Marathas and the Kandy Sky Kings was a one sided game as the Kandy Sky Kings failed to deliver a single point, giving the opponents the super opportunit­y to score a 19-0 ( Pradeep Pandhare 1 TD, Dinesh 1TD, Sathis 1TD) win .

Prior to each game, as per tradition, the organisers gave away EFLI T-shirts to some chosen underprivi­leged youngsters.
