Euro Asia’s tea brands win int’l award
A local tea exporting company has won the Most Outstanding Tea Branding Award at the recently held Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) Hong Kong International Tea Fair- Tea Competition 2012.
Euro Asia Corporation (Pvt) Ltd, a member of Mos Lanka Holdings, won this award at the HKTDC tea fair, a gathering where world’s top tea brands are recognized.
The award was given for Euro Asia Corporation’s F&S and Favor brands, which have a wide range of value added teas. The company received the award from all the other regions except Hong Kong which has a separate category.
“This is a great achievement not only for our company but mainly for Ceylon tea because we won this award from among 12 other participating countries including Kenya and India,” Dr. Saman Weerasinghe, Chairman, Mos Lanka Holdings said.
The products were judged by foreign evaluators based on the quality of each product. Several other Sri Lankan companies also participated at the event.
Meanwhile Euro Asia Corporation has got the BOI (Board of Investment) approval for a 75, 000 square feet warehouse, factory and office complex on 4.5 acres in Mulleriyawa. The company is planning a Rs.700 million investment on this, and will also be reinvesting on certain new machineries.
The construction of the warehouse complex would begin in October and be completed within two years. The company already has two warehouses in Peliyagoda.
Further Dr. Weerasinghe pointed out that both the Favor and F&S brands have a big demand in China.
“We have established more than 20 tea kiosks in China, which operate as tea houses, through our partner in that country. He sells only our tea under the Lion logo. These tea houses can be seen in most of the cities in China,” he said.
Euro Asia Corporation also plans to introduce a new tea brand next month, company sources revealed.
