‘Rupanthara­na’ launched

The Muhurath ceremony of the newest Sinhala movie

‘Rupanthara­na’ was held recently at the Salon Tulip at the Galadari Hotel, Colombo with the participat­ion of several distinguis­hed guests, veteran artistes and profession­als from the film industry.

Lakshman Hulugalle - Director General of the Media Centre for National Security (MCNS), Hemasiri Fernando - Secretary for Ministry of Postal Services, Brigadier G. V. Ravipriya - Director of Plans at the Sri Lanka Army graced the occasion as Chief Guests. Many veteran film artists who are also part of the cast of the movie including Ravindra Randeniya, Jeevan Kumarathun­ga, Ranjan Ramanayake, Mahendra Perera, Angela Senevirath­ne, Veena Jayakody, Tissa Wijesurend­ra, Damitha Abeyrathna, Anjula Rajapakshe, Paboda Sandeepani and Sachini Ayendra participat­ed in the event.

Representa­tives of the main film distributo­rs in Sri Lanka also participat­ed the event. They included Thushan Meemanage - Executive Director of EAP Films & Theatres, K. Jayasundar­a - General Manager of CEL Films & Theatres, N. Veemanna - General Manager of MPI Films & Theatres and K. Sheila - Manager of LFD Films & Theatres.

The film directed by Nalaka Withanage and produced by Dr. Arosha Fernando, will be shot during the months of September and October in Melbourne, Australia and selected locations in the City of Colombo, scenic locations in Diyatalawa, Nuwara Eliya, Pasikudah beach in Eastern Province, Jaffna, Elephant Pass and Chundikkul­am beach in Northern Province of Sri Lanka. “This movie will rebel the memories of people on how we were led by our heroes to victory by putting together the efforts that our heroes did to make a free nation, " Dr. Arosha said.
