Lakdasa Wijesinghe – An epitome of humility

A heavy note of sadness besieged our hearts due to the sudden demise of our beloved cousin Lucky Aiya as we affectiona­tely called him. On August 17, 2012 our lives virtually came to a standstill on hearing the news of his passing away so suddenly to be with our Creator. A rare individual with the hallmark of a perfect gentleman, plenitude in kindness, helpfulnes­s and love, He was an epitome of humility and his humble ways drew scores of people around him. His integrity and honesty knew no bounds, his life was filled with passion towards fellow humans, be it a relative, friend or an unknown person who approached him for assistance.

Lucky Aiya was a Godfearing person and we have never seen him lose his temper despite facing many tribulatio­ns in life. Being a loving, caring and devoted husband to June Akka he was a friend more than a father to his beloved chil-

dren Ashan and Lalinthi. He adored his grandchild­ren and was their loving seeya. Lucky Aiya occupied the top most position in the list of invitees to any of our family gatherings and never did he disappoint us without his presence.

Thank you dear brother, for all the happy times we shared with you and for your kind assistance and love extended during all our times of adversity. We are proud that we had a cousin of your calibre and thank God for your exquisite life on this earth. In our thoughts you will be fondly remembered and we are confident that you are now with Lord Jesus and hope to meet you on that beautiful shore one day.
