2012 SIGNIS SALUTATION
DHEEWARI, SANDAGIRI PAWWA EXCEL Dilhani, Bimal, Sangeetha, Himali, Sanjeewa shine BIMAL SCORES A DOUBLE
The 36th SIGNIS Salutation Ceremony was held at the BMICH last Saturday amidst a distinguished gathering.
The event was held under the distinguished patronage of His Eminence Malcolm Cardinal Ranjith, the Archbishop of Colombo.
Salinda Perera’s Dheewari clinched major awards at the ceremony in the cinema section while Saman Kumara Liyanage’s ‘Sandagiri Pawwa’ bagged most of the key tele drama awards.
Dilhani Ekanayake and Bimal Jayakody together with Sangeetha Weeraratne and Joe Abeywickrema clinched the awards in the film acting category while Sanjeewa Upendra and Himali Siriwardana walked away with the tele drama awards for acting.
Dheewari was adjudged the best film in 2011 while Sandagiri Pawwa which was telecast on Swarnavahini was deemed the best tele drama.
Significant awards went to the late Joe Abeywickrema, Trilicia Gunawardana, Asela Jayakody and Lal Wickremarachchi.
The Cyril B. Perera Memorial Award was presented to film journalist turned editor Narada Nissanka while the Jayawilal Wilegoda memorial award went to Priyan R. Wijebandara.
The SIGNIS international tribute awards were bagged by Andrew Jayamanne, Somapala Leelananda, Hemapriya Kandamby and Chandrika Siriwardana.
