The SAINTS are here again. Who are the SAINTS and what do they excel at.

They are a choral group made up of former students of ‘Saints’ colleges: Josephians -- Suren Abeysekera, Allan Perera, Janith Abeysekera and Russell Gomesz; Anthonian -- Priyanke Perera; Bendictine­s -Bosco Fonseka, Nalake Fernando, Gladwyn Ramanathan and Placidus Gomez; Marian – Kenneth Pereira; Thomian – Rohan Fernando and Sebastiani­te -- Carlo Fernando.

They are well known among music lowers to produce the kind of music that scintillat­es the heart and the mind.

The SAINTS will perform at the Lionel Wendt on Sunday September 9 at 7.00 p.m. They are set to entertain the audience with a repertoire which will include selections, from the 1950s to the 70s with exciting arrangemen­ts sung in pleasing harmony. They will feature songs by the Temptation­s, Boyz11Men, Beatles, and Beach Boys to No.1 hits which were made popular by the greats such as Englebert, Ricky Nelson, Bryan Adams and Sting.

By popular request and no doubt add- ing lustre to their concert, “Those Were the Days’, the SAINTS have reintroduc­ed the Sinhala segment, on this occasion with renditions from the musical giant Pandith Amaradeva and the ever popular Rukantha and Surendra Perera. The SAINTS have not forgotten their Sing-a-Long session either.

The group which is co-conducted by Suren Abeysekera and Priyanke Perera will be backed by Christo Prins on drums, Revel Crake on guitar, Basil Paiva on bass guitar and Dayadthree Jayasuriya de Silva on piano.

The box plan and tickets priced at Rs.1,000, 700 and 300 (balcony) are available at the Lionel Wendt. If you are looking for a pleasant evening with music that will be both relaxing and entertaini­ng, don’t forget to be there on Sunday September 9 at 7.00 p.m. when the show begins.
