Pillay’s experts here next week
Technical experts from the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) will visit the country next week, the External Affairs Ministry confirmed yesterday.
They will arrive in the country on Sept. 14
“We can only confirm that they will arrive in the country on September 14, however the composition of the team and their agenda in the country has yet to be made known to the government,” the Ministry’s Public Communications Director General told the Daily Mirror.
The experts will be here to take follow-up action on the US-led resolution on Sri Lanka taken up at the UNHRC sessions on March 22. The resolution, which was adopted at the sessions, required Sri Lanka to accept technical assistance to implement the Lessons Learnt and Reconciliation Commission (LLRC) recommendations.
