Wall collapses on top of little girl killing her

A four-year-old girl, who had been pinned under the debris of the wall of her house that had collapsed during heavy rains, had succumbed to her injuries after being admitted to the Horana Base Hospital on Tuesday evening (4).

The wall of the line house, situated in the Ellakanda estate in Horana, had collapsed during the heavy rains experience­d in the area. The victim S.A. Samini, was the eldest in a family of three and had been attending pre-school. The little girl was playing near the house at the time of the incident. The inquirer into sudden deaths, Sumedha Gunawarden­e, who performed the autopsy at the Horana hospital, had returned a verdict of accidental death due to multiple injuries suffered by the victim when the wall fell onto her. He said that the estate administra­tion that failed to maintain the line houses and therefore should be blamed for the death of the child.
