New head of the Sri Lanka Ramangna Nikaya
Mahanayake of the Sri Lanka Ramangna Nikaya, Ven Napana Pemasiri Thera who succeeded the late Ven. Weveldeniya Medhalankara Thera was accorded a warm welcome at the Getambe Rajopawanaramaya on Tuesday (04). Addressing the gathering there the Ven. Thera said that as a Buddhist monk, he is fully committed to the service of the Buddha Sasana and the nation.
Ven. Pemasiri Thera said he held several key positions in the Ramangna Nikaya and that the Karaka Sangha Sabha appointed him as the Mahanayake unanimously. He went on to say he would continue his services to the Ramangna Nikaya and the Buddha Sasana in his capacity as the Mahanayake.
On his arrival, the Thera was received at the Rajopwanaramaya by Central Province Governor Tikiri Kobbekaduwa, Chief Minister Sarath Ekanayake and the Dayaka Sabha of the temple. The ceremony was organised by the Chief Incumbent of the temple Ven Keppitiyagoda Siriwimala Thera. The Mahasangha that included Ven Galketiyawala Rathanawansa and Ven Ankumbure Premawansa, Professor H.M.R.B.Herath, Dr. M.B.Jayasinghe, and several office bearers and members of the Dayaka Sabha were also present at the occasion.
