Indika Gamlath picked for Asian Masters
Indika Gamlath an old boy St. Benedict’s College, Kotahena has been picked to represent Sri Lanka at the 17th Asian Masters Athletic Championship 2012 to be held in Taipei, Taiwan from November 2 to 7.
The events he is scheduled to participate are, 200, 400 and 4x100 meters.
Indika won silver and bronze in 100 and 200 meters at the 26th Masters’ Open Athletic Championship held at the Sugathadasa Stadium in July 2012. His good performance at this meet enabled him for selection for the Masters Championship in Taipei.
Incidentally Indika held a record for 200 meters at a schools athletic meet at the age of 19 held for 16 years which was broken this year by Ashantha Kumara a student of the same school.
Indika is an Advance Level teacher in commercials subjects and the master-in-charge for athletics at St. Benedict’s College. He is also the auditor of the Sri Lanka Athletic Association (SLSAA)
