GOLDEN STAR : ready to glitter Grand finale on September 28

Rural talent deserves much more attention in this country. But talent needs opportunity. It is this vital opportunity that the youth with artistic talents in the Gampaha district had been lacking.
The Wijewardene Jana Sansadaya headed by energetic Parliamentarian Ruwan Wijewardene realised this crucial necessity and provided the vital platform for the youth to showcase their singing talents. The reality programme titled ‘Siyane Golden Star’ which attracted about 800 budding stars from the Gampaha district, has now been filtered down to the final 20.
The ambitious finalists have now not got their golden chance to nurture their untapped talents and dream big.
The final programme is scheduled to be held on September 28.
Even if all of them don’t become big stars in the future, this experience and exposure they get in such reality programmes will certainly put them in good stead in society.
At a time when the country urgently needs a new generation that respects peace, unity, values and fair play, this kind of initiatives will certainly contribute towards such endeavours because arts can touch the most sensitive areas in people and transform them into citizens with positive attitudes.
By validating their budding talents through this programme, the Wijewardene Jana Sansadaya also helps build the youngsters’ sense of self-esteem. Siyane Golden Star Programme Manager Nimal Warnakulasuriya said the 20 finalists were now engaged in a series of training sessions to showcase their talents at the grand finale. The Sun Flowers group led by the vibrant Neil Warnakulasuriya provides music for the programme.
