Kiwi John Wright at SSC Cricket Academy
Former New Zealand cricketer, captain and coach John Wright will conduct a cricket clinic hosted by the Sinhalese Sports club (SSC) Cricket Academy tomorrow (Saturday October 27). This is a fine opportunity for Sri Lanka’s next generation of cricket stars to get valuable tips and a helping hand from the renowned cricketer.

demonstrate what they have learnt.
Wright went on to coach the Indian national cricket team f rom 2000 to 2005 before becoming the New Zealand cricket coach in 2010.
“Encouraging young- sters has always been an important part of the thinking behind the academy. It will be great to take this opportunity to also see some of Sri Lanka’s best young cricketers benefiting from Mr. Wright’s expertise,” said Sheran Wickrema- sekera, Head Coach at the SSC Cricket Academy.
“When we heard that John would be visiting the island, we knew it would be a great opportunity for the kids.” said Samantha Dodanwela, Chairman of SSC Cricket.
Wright is in Sri Lanka to award the first John Wright Scholarships to students who exemplify excellence in sporting and academic ability, to study at the Southern Institute of Technology. Up to 25 full and partial scholarships are offered in any one year to students f rom India, Sri Lanka and Nepal.
