The workshop was to introduce prepaid cards to the Sri Lankan Market. Participants were from Sri Lankan top Companies representing banks, telcos, retails, financial institutes and IT Companies. This was a very valuable opportunity for them to in source knowledge on pre-paid cards. The program consisted of many activities, group discussions. In order to make the session more interactive, he used some real time case studies, and video clips related to the topic.

This hands on, case study based workshop will allow participants to work through to create prepaid programs and deal with real business issues. Each participant went away with an action plan completed in con- fidence relevant to their own needs/ plans etc.

David has forecasted that pre-paid payment cards in Sri Lanka will soon see explosive growth. With over 70% of the Sri Lankan population owning a mobile and over 80% of those being pre-paid, there is a clear opportunity in Sri Lanka, as well as a strong understanding of the pre-paid concept. David went on to say that ‘Sri Lanka is a unique market as it has a strong POS and ATM infrastructure and yet an un-banked population of 70%. The opportunity for pre-paid cards to drive forward the financial inclusion agenda is huge. They can be used for many things from benefit payments to Person2Person payments when combined with mobile enablement’.
