Chief Justice Shirani Bandaranayake has filed answers to the 14 charges made against her in the im- peachment motion, informed sources said yesterday.

She filed answers yesterday and sent them to the Parliamentary Select Committee probing the charges. The copies of the answers sent by the Chief Justice have been distributed among the members of the select committee yesterday.

Meanwhile, the Chief Justice is expected to appear before the select committee today (November 23) at the Parliamentary Complex. The select committee chaired by Environment Minister Anura Priyadarsana Yapa was appointed by Speaker Chamal Rajapaksa after 117 MPs handed over a resolution calling for an impeachment motion. In the resolution, there are 14 charges against the Chief Justice.
