Rohitha says satellite launch delayed
This project was not complete if one did not speak about Rohitha Rajapaksa
The scheduled launch of a communication satellite, a joint venture of SupremeSAT (Pvt) Ltd and China’s state owned CGWIC has been delayed by five days due to bad weather conditions, President’s youngest son and the project’s space system engineer Rohitha Rajapaksa told the Daily Mirror.
However, the Sri Lanka government also distanced itself from the much publicized launch with Telecommunications Regulatory Commission Director Anusha Pelpita stating that the company involved had not received a licence from them or obtained the necessary approval for a ‘Sri Lanka footprint’ in the satellite
The TRCSL distanced itself from the project despite Science and Technology Senior Minister Tissa Vitarana endorsing it
which are necessary for the satellite to carry out telecommunication activities in Sri Lanka.
