The Tamil Eelam Implementation and Tamil Diaspora Diarrhoea

- Udara Soysa

Hypocrisy is never a good sign for a long term insurgency let alone for a freedom struggle. Throughout decades of war Eelamists continued to ignore continuous suffering that befell the Tamil population in the North and East in the name of the freedom struggle. Children were continually abducted by Tamil Tigers on a daily basis in the North and East, while the so called Diaspora warriors of human rights remained supportive of such heinous crimes that scarred generations and generations of Tamils in Sri Lanka.

The newest group to enter the very vocal Diaspora are the “Tamils against genocide”, Gnanakones and other con men in the Tamil Diaspora – raising concerns on the human rights of the Tamils in Northern Sri Lanka. One may like to question their whereabouts during the great massacre of unarmed TELO members in the 1980s to the more recent massacres of unarmed and defenseless cadres of the Karuna faction during a peaceful slumber at Kottawa.

The genius hawks in the Tamil Diaspora did not recognize that the war of Eelam shattered the Tamils to pieces in Sri Lanka. The unquenchable urge to take revenge from state and terminal identity crisis-sickness blinded Diaspora rationality and unfortunately, still continues to blind the best of them. Will the Tamil Diaspora ever recognize the millions of dollars wasted and thousands of lives sacrificed wasn’t for a real war at all?

If only our Tamil political leadership could unite the Diaspora under a moderate voice, the likes of Sumanthiran, we could see a future with adequate rights for the minorities.
