14 run victory by D.S Senanayake

D.S. Senanayake College scored a close 14 runs victory over Mahanama College in a Schools Under 13 (Div III) tournament cricket match played at the Ananda Sastralaya Grounds.

Winning the toss and batting first Mahanama were bundled out for 113 in 49.5 0vers with Thaweesha Thatsara (28), Dinal Peiris (23), Kavindu Weerasinghe (16) and Anjula Liyanage (10) being the chief scorers and in bowling for DSS Kalana Jayawardene did the damage with 3 for 20 supported by Tharindu Bandara (2 for 13), Lahiru Samaranayake (1 for 33), Maneedra Kalana (1 for 27) and Amjad Ali (1 for 8).Chasing the victory target DSS slowly and steadily scored 127 in 48.3 overs. Opener Ravindu Samarasinghe (27) and Kulundu Meshika (18) laid the foundation with a fighting 52 run partnership for the second wicket while Dumindu Ashen,

Maneedra Kalana and Kalana Jayawardene contributed with 12, 21 and 19 respectively. In bowling Vimukthi Liyanage (4 for 17), Nipun Yasith (2 for 14) and Kavindu Weerasinghe (2 for 31) troubled the DSS batsmen.
